Farmer-focused Biodiversity and Agricultural Knowledge Network

Or in other words…Reversing Biodiversity Loss, Together.

Our ambition is to enhance Biodiversity-Friendly Farming practices in Europe by stimulating knowledge exchange between farmers, foresters, researchers, advisors, and other key stakeholders.

Why is this a priority?

Agricultural land use covers the largest proportion of terrestrial land modified by human activities and is crucial for feeding humanity.

Farmers' land management decisions are a significant driver of biodiversity change.

Preserving biodiversity is crucial for ensuring agricultural production, food security, and maintaining essential ecosystem services.

How will FarmBioNet Help?

In order to halt and reverse biodiversity decline, we are aiming, together with farmers, to foster knowledge exchange and the integration of research findings and practices related to farmland biodiversity, including climate change mitigation and adaptation.

At the core of FarmBioNet is the establishment of a European Network encompassing a variety of national networks. These networks will facilitate the exchange of both traditional and evidence-based actions that promote biodiversity on farms.

The national networks will include farmers, farming organisations, researchers, advisors, other relevant actors, and national/regional sub-networks.
