About Avalon

Avalon specialises in acquiring, managing, and implementing projects that facilitate a transition to greener food and agriculture, notably organic farming and agri-environmental initiatives. Since its establishment in 1991, Avalon has implemented over 120 projects in 33 countries (23 European, 8 Asian, and 2 African countries). Its significant donors (almost 50 in total) include the UN Organisations, the Global Environmental Facility Fund (GEF), the European Commission, EU Member State Governments, regional governments, associations and private organisations. As an expert in bioregional impacts, Avalon developed the Bioregion Impact Compass (BIC),  a unique tool for assessing regional drivers and the environmental and economic effects of expanding organic farming.

Role in the project
