About Slovenian Forestry Institute

Slovenian Forestry Institute (Gozdarski Inštitut Slovenia) is a public research institute conducting basic and applied research on forests and forest landscapes, forest ecosystems, wildlife ecology, hunting, forest management, and other uses of the resources and services forests provide. The scientific knowledge from these fields helps further the research on forest biodiversity and its management in relation to climate change as well as all aspects of sustainable development, with the purpose of increasing knowledge and awareness of the importance of forests within the environment and the importance of forest management. 

Role in the project

Slovenian Forestry Institute will contribute to all the work packages while its main role is leading the FarmBioNet National Network of Slovenia. The Institute will be responsible for event organization, promotion of knowledge exchange, stakeholder collaboration and education to help spread the adoption of sustainable, biodiversity-friendly agricultural and forestry practices.
